Meet Bobby
Robert “Bobby” Mehan is a Georgia small business owner, entrepreneur, and Republican candidate for the Georgia Public Service Commission (PSC) who believes everyday ratepayers deserve a strong voice when decisions are made about electricity rates, power bills, and energy policy in Georgia.
Bobby is a third generation Georgian who has lived in rural West Georgia for nearly two decades and spent his career building businesses, creating jobs, and serving customers across the state. As a small business owner and Georgia Power customer himself, he understands firsthand how rising utility bills and energy costs impact families, workers, and employers.
Bobby has worked shoulder to shoulder with employees, consumers, and businesses alike, learning what it takes to grow responsibly while keeping costs in check. Decades after Bremen lost its largest industry, Bobby believed a revitalized downtown could be a reality. Rolling up his sleeves alongside other community leaders, Bobby led Bremen’s downtown development.
He faced similar challenges in his own business when the company he founded came close to closing during COVID-era medical restrictions. Bobby led his team through a turnaround that restored stability, protected jobs, and allowed the company to continue serving customers across the globe.
Bobby and his wife, Leanna, live in Bremen, where they are raising their three daughters, Avery Kate (10), Madelyn (9), and Molly Mills (3). Like so many families, they rely on affordable, dependable energy from Georgia’s electric grid to power their home and their livelihoods.
On the Issues
“Delivering power is complex. Standing up for Georgians is common sense.
Ratepayers deserve a Public Service Commissioner with the backbone to make power bills affordable, maintain reliable energy, and ensure our utilities keep pace with Georgia’s growing economy. The Georgia Public Service Commission regulates Georgia Power and investor-owned electric, natural gas, and telecommunications utilities. The decisions made by the PSC directly affect your monthly utility bills, grid reliability, infrastructure investments, and the long-term affordability of energy across our state.
Bottom Line, the PSC sits at the intersection of your family budget, our economy growth, and dependable power for all.”

Protect Georgia Ratepayers
Georgia families and businesses are facing rising utility costs. The PSC must act as a watchdog for affordability, ensuring every proposal delivers clear value. As Commissioner, Bobby Mehan will put business judgment and financial accountability at the center of every decision.
Engineering expertise matters. But the PSC’s job isn’t just to ask, “Can we build it?” Strong leadership must also ask, “Should we build it — and can Georgia afford it?”
As Commissioner, Bobby will:
- Apply rigorous cost-benefit analysis before ratepayers pay a dime.
- Evaluate utility forecasts for realism and measurable risk and demand transparent cost- estimates.
- Ensure costs are borne by those who create them — not shifted onto families or small businesses.
- Safeguard residential, rural, and small-business customers from disproportionate rate impacts.
Strengthen the Grid for Families & Businesses
Reliability isn’t a luxury — it’s a basic expectation. Georgia families deserve an energy system that works when they need it most.
After storms like Hurricanes Irma and Helene, we’ve seen how disruptive prolonged outages can be. Strengthening our grid means preparing for extreme weather, improving response times, and ensuring no community is overlooked.
As Commissioner, Bobby will:
- Guard against reckless Green New Deal policies that would risk grid reliability.
- Leverage smart planning and private-sector expertise to avoid costly delays or overruns in grid maintenance and expansion.
- Support policies that enhance operational resilience, from transmission upgrades to diversified supply options.
- Bring a business lens to resource planning — demanding accountability and timelines from utilities that are equal to or exceed private sector standards.
Support Our Growing Georgia Economy
Georgia’s economy is growing rapidly, and reliable energy is one reason why. The PSC must ensure that growth translates into lower utility costs, better jobs, and stronger communities. Our power grid and our energy policies need to keep pace with today’s economy and the future.
As Commissioner, Bobby will:
- Champion policies that keep utility costs competitive while maintaining service quality.
- Make Georgia’s regulatory environment predictable, so job creators can plan with confidence.
- Work with legislators, industry, and community leaders to advance reforms that unlock investment, bring new jobs to Georgia, and strengthen our state’s reputation as a place where business thrives.
- Make sure companies locating in Georgia are paying their fair share of utilities.
Advance Energy Innovation & Smart Investment
Georgia is becoming a national leader in advanced manufacturing, logistics, data infrastructure, and technology. Our energy policy must keep pace. Innovation isn’t about chasing trends, but investing wisely in solutions that increase reliability, lower long-term costs, and keep Georgia competitive.
Innovation will always deliver an ROI environmentally and financially for the ratepayer. Georgia won’t chase reckless woke energy policies that risk our grid reliability.
As Commissioner, Bobby will:
- Support responsible investment in next-generation energy technologies that improve efficiency and reduce long-term operating costs.
- Ensure new technologies provide true benefit, by first vetting them for cost, scalability, and risk before approving.
- Foster collaboration between utilities, entrepreneurs, and major employers to keep Georgia at the forefront of energy innovation.
- Position Georgia as a state where reliable, affordable energy fuels economic expansion and job creation.
